Meditation is really simple to try but it sometimes seems confusing.
"What am I supposed to be doing? I cant stop thinking! Its so frustrating!"
These are all very normal things to think :)
Most importantly don't try too hard, it is more of a letting go than a 'doing'.
Simply keep practising and slowly it will begin to make sense, if you stick with it life will seem a lot smoother and easier to navigate. Even though the same obstacles and problems might be there they wont seem as huge as they did before.
Finally don't practise if you are driving, in the bath, operating machinery etc & if you aren't enjoying it or it makes you feel unsettled in any way then simply stop, open your eyes, rub your face, arms & legs, have a stretch and a cup of tea & come back to it another time.
